Serenity co-founder Dr. Michael Averbukh recently sat down with Xraised to talk about what actually separates a Medical Fiduciary from a traditional healthcare concierge, and why simply having access to every specialist in a city is not the reassurance it might first appear to be.
To explain the problem, he reached for an old philosophical image: a donkey standing exactly between hay and water, unable to choose which need to satisfy first, and slowly starving as a result. Faced with too many options and no one to help weigh them, private healthcare can leave people in a surprisingly similar place.
"A concierge can facilitate access. A Medical Fiduciary assumes a much broader responsibility."
The full conversation looks at what that broader responsibility means in practice, and why understanding a member's full picture before a crisis happens changes what good care actually looks like.
