September has arrived.
The children are back at school. Parents everywhere are pretending to be devastated while quietly opening champagne at 9:04am.
The weather has entered its annual identity crisis. It's 24 degrees at lunchtime, 11 degrees by dinner, and you've left the house wearing sandals, carrying an umbrella, sunglasses and a light jacket because apparently we now dress for all four seasons simultaneously.
And naturally, everyone is ill.
Someone has a cough. Someone else has "a bit of a throat." Your colleague has been "coming down with something" since approximately March. And every parent has received the traditional September gift from school: a mysterious virus capable of taking down an entire household while the child who brought it home continues bouncing off the furniture completely unaffected.
Welcome back.
This is also the month when we collectively decide to "get healthy again."
We buy vitamins.
We join gyms.
We Google things like "Can you reverse six weeks of rosé with magnesium?"
You cannot.
But we admire the optimism.
At Serenity, September usually means gently reminding people that their body is not an Amazon Prime order. You cannot neglect it for three months and then request complete restoration by Tuesday.
Health, annoyingly, requires maintenance.
Sleep. Water. Movement. Decent food. Taking your medication. Getting things checked when something feels wrong instead of Googling symptoms at 1am and discovering that your mild headache is apparently caused by either dehydration or an exceptionally rare tropical disease last documented in 1847.
And perhaps most importantly: calm down.
Most things are manageable.
Some things need a doctor.
Very few things need seventeen browser tabs, a Reddit thread and a message to your cousin who once worked in a pharmacy.
Welcome to September.
Stay hydrated. Take your medication. Book the appointment you've been avoiding.
And for the love of God, stop Googling your symptoms.
